Muscular System Interesting Facts: 1. You have over 30 facial muscles which create looks like surprise, happiness, sadness, and frowning. Eye muscles are the busiest muscles in the body. Scientists estimate they may move more than 100,000 times a day! The largest muscle in the body is the gluteus maximus muscle in the buttocks. Other organs and tissues serve a purpose in only one body system. Body Systems Overview. All body systems are necessary for an organism to be able to survive and reproduce. In this article we’ll focus on the systems of the human body – similar systems are required by all animals, but the details of how they accomplish their tasks may vary. THE HUMAN BODY is an introduction to the amazing and complicated machines we live in. This guide offers facts, interaction tips, and prompts for conversation as you and your child explore eight of the body’s systems: NERVOUS SKELETAL RESPIRATORY CIRCULATORY DIGESTIVE MUSCULAR UROGENITAL IMMUNE Open up THE HUMAN BODY and see how we work.
The circulatory system is the body's transport system. It is made up of a group of organs that transport blood throughout the body. The heart pumps the blood and the arteries and veins transport it. Oxygen-rich blood leaves the left side of the heart and enters the biggest artery, called the aorta. The main systems of the human body are: Circulatory system: Circulates blood around the body via the heart, arteries and veins, delivering oxygen and nutrients to organs and cells and carrying their waste products away. Digestive system: Mechanical and chemical processes that provide nutrients via the mouth, esophagus, stomach and intestines. See at the surface of the body (everyday life). Regional anatomy-complete anatomy (internal) of a specific region of the body (learning every blood vessel, muscle, bones, etc. In the arm)-medical school. Systemic anatomy-the body is divided into 11 organ systems-(our class).
The main systems of the human body are:
- Circulatory system:
- Circulates blood around the body via the heart, arteries and veins, delivering oxygen and nutrients to organs and cells and carrying their waste products away.
- Keeps the body's temperature in a safe range.
- Digestive system and Excretory system:
- System to absorb nutrients and remove waste via the gastrointestinal tract, including the mouth, esophagus, stomach and intestines.
- Eliminates waste from the body.
- Endocrine system:
- Influences the function of the body using hormones.
- Integumentary system / Exocrine system:
- Skin, hair, nails, sweat and other exocrine glands
- Immune system and lymphatic system:
- Defends the body against pathogens that may endanger the body.
- The system comprising a network of lymphatic vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph.
- Muscular system:
- Enables the body to move using muscles.
- Nervous system:
- Collects and processes information from the senses via nerves and the brain and tells the muscles to contract to cause physical actions.
- Renal system and Urinary system
- The system where the kidneys filter blood to produce urine.
- Reproductive system:
- The sex organs required for the production of offspring.
- Respiratory system:
- Brings air into and out of the lungs to absorb oxygen and remove carbon dioxide.
- Skeletal system:
- Bones maintain the structure of the body and its organs.
- Hematopoietic system:
- Creates the cells that travel in blood

- Clockwise from top left: the lymphatic
- urinaryreproductive (female
- male) and digestive systems.
